We are looking for an authentic copy of the Neo Lao Hak Sat (or Xat) weekly bulletin containing photographs and biographic information on U.S. prisoners of war captured by the Pathet Lao. Authentication is provided by our senior advisors.
Status: the existence of the bulletin is described in U.S. government reporting, including a Defense Department intelligence report of Nov. 24, 1971. No copy has been located.
A U.S. government intelligence report states that the Neo Lao Hak Sat (NLHS) published a “weekly bulletin from 1966 to 1969 that contained the pictures and biographic resume of up to 30 Americans captured by the communist Pathet Lao.” The bulletin was issued by the office of NLHS official Kaysone Phomvihane (ໄກສອນ ພົມວິຫານ).
These documents matter because only nine prisoners were returned from Laos, and U.S. officials believe more had been captured. If the bulletins exist, they would be direct evidence of U.S. prisoners captured but never returned — with photographs.
